Earthly Tents

I’m living in a dwelling that the wind’s been blowing through

It’s a tattered, dusty canvas, the poles are leaning too

But I don’t fret the canvas or the way the ropes might fray

Because I know this earthly house is meant to fade away

I’ve got a building waiting, and not built by human hands

Established in the heavens, far above these shifting sands

Oh, we’re always called to walk by faith and never walk by sight

Through the shadows of the valley toward the everlasting light

The old will pass away soon, and the heavy chains are gone

A new creation standing in the breaking of the dawn

He’s reconciled this sinner, and He’s wiped the slate so clean

I’m living with the promise of the things yet to be seen

Sometimes I find I’m groaning, burdened by this heavy load

I’m longing for the kingdom at the end of this long road

But He’s sealed us with His Spirit, the security from grace

A guarantee of glory when I see Him face to face

He’s given me the power, it’s just stored in earthen clay

A servant to the Master as I’m livin’ day to day

Yeah, this old tent will pass away, He’s promised all things new

He’s preparing me a mansion and guaranteed it's true
